My new Website is being designed and will be online soon ... If you'd like to email me my address is ron@ronriley.com As many know, I came East in 1970 after leaving Chicago. In the early 1980s I left radio and went into TV weather in Baltimore. In the mid 90s I become the morning weather anchor at News Channel 8 in Washington DC. I also was fortunate enough to host a one-shot WLS retro show on XM a couple of years ago which was unbelieveable. Continually amazing over the years is the number of former WLS listeners from around the country that hear from - or have been in DC on business or pleasure and found me on TV. It's been a very rewarding. Now, I've finally retired from full-time TV and will just concentrate on doing freelance radio & TV and other projects - and enjoy a little more leisure time. As our VP News was kind enough to send out to the staff: "He's done live shows with everyone from the Beatles to our News Anchors. Now after 5 decades in broadcasting, Ron Riley is retiring. He is leaving his morning weather post at NewsChannel 8 after having been a friendly fixture on our AM news for the past 15 years. Prior to that, Ron had a storied career as a top rock and roll disk jockey in Chicago. Ron hopes to stay active in the business in the future but admits he is more than ready to sleep in past those 2 am wake-up calls. We all thank him for his hard work and dedicated service. He's done a great job for us and I can't wait to call him at 2am some morning and ask him to come in and freelance!" |
